The
soul, like the body, lives by what it feeds on.
~Josiah Gilbert Holland~
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the
noise and haste,
and remember what peace
there may be in silence.
As far as possible,
without surrender,
be on good terms with
all persons.
Speak your truth quietly
and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the
ignorant;
they too have their
story.
Avoid
loud and aggressive
persons,
they are vexations to
the spirit.
If you compare yourself
with others,
you may become vain and
bitter;
for always there will be
greater and lesser
persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements
as well as your plans.
Keep
interested in your own
career, however humble;
it is a real possession
in the changing fortunes
of time.
Exercise caution in your
business affairs;
for the world is full of
trickery.
But let this not blind
you to what virtue there
is;
many persons strive for
high ideals;
and everywhere life is
full of heroism.
Be
yourself.
Especially, do not feign
affection.
Neither be cynical about
love;
for in the face of all
aridity and
disenchantment
it is as perennial as
the grass.
Take
kindly the counsel of
the years,
gracefully surrendering
the things of youth.
Nurture strength of
spirit to shield you in
sudden misfortune.
But do not distress
yourself with dark
imaginings.
Many fears are born of
fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome
discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You
are a child of the
universe,
no less than the trees
and the stars;
you have a right to be
here.
And whether or not it is
clear to you,
no doubt the universe is
unfolding as it should.
Therefore
be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive
Him to be,
and whatever your labors
and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion
of life keep peace with
your soul.
With
all its sham, drudgery,
and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful
world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
~Max Ehrmann~.

Attitude
The
longer I live, the more
I realize the impact of
attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more
important than facts. It
is more important than
the past, than
education, than money,
than circumstances, than
failures, than
successes, than what
other people think, say
or do. It is more
important than
appearance, giftedness
or skills. It will make
or break a company... a
church... a home. The
remarkable thing is we
have a choice every day
regarding the attitude
we embrace for that day.
We cannot change our
past... we cannot change
the fact that people
will act in a certain
way. We cannot change
the inevitable. The only
thing we can do is play
on the one string we
have, and that is our
attitude. ... I am
convinced that life is
10% what happens to me
and 90% how I react to
it. And so it is with
you... we are in charge
of our attitudes.

Corinthians Chapter 13
Though
I speak with the tongues
of men and of angels,
and have not Love, I am
become as sounding
brass, or a tinkling
cymbal. And though I
have the gift of
prophecy, and understand
all mysteries, and all
knowledge; and though I
have all faith, so that
I could remove
mountains, and have not
Love, I am nothing. And
though I bestow all my
goods to feed the poor,
and though I give my
body to be burned, and
have not Love, it
profiteth me nothing.
Love
suffereth long, and is
kind;
Love envieth not;
Love vaunteth not
itself, is not puffed
up,
Doth not behave itself
unseemly,
Seeketh not her own,
Is not easily provoked,
Thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in
iniquity, but rejoiceth
in the truth;
Beareth all things,
believeth all things,
hopeth all things,
endureth all things.
Love
never faileth: but
whether there be
prophecies, they shall
fail; whether there be
tongues, they shall
cease; whether there be
knowledge, it shall
vanish away. For we know
in part, and we prophesy
in part. But when that
which is perfect is
come, then that which is
in part shall be done
away. When I was a
child, I spake as a
child, I understood as a
child, I thought as a
child: but when I became
a man, I then face to
face: now I know in
part; but then shall I
know even as also I am
known. And now abideth
faith, hope, Love, these
three; but the greatest
of these is Love.
~1 Corinthians 13~

Man's
Search for Meaning
by Viktor E. Frankl
(Holocaust
survivor.)
Everything
can be taken from a man
but ...the last of the
human freedoms - to
choose
one's attitude in any
given set of
circumstances, to choose
one's own way."
"There is also
purpose in life which is
almost barren of both
creation and enjoyment
and which admits of but
one possibility of high
moral
behavior: namely,
in man's attitude to his
existence, an existence
restricted by external
forces."
"What matters,
therefore, is not the
meaning of life in
general, but rather
the specific
meaning of a person's
life at a given
moment."
"We can discover
this meaning in life in
three different ways:
(1) by doing a deed; (2)
by experiencing a value;
and (3) by
suffering."
A
man who becomes
conscious of the
responsibility he bears
toward a human
being who affectionately
waits for him, or to an
unfinished work, will
never be able to throw
away his life. He knows
the "why" for
his existence, and will
be able to bear almost
any "how."

The
Serenity Prayer
God
grant me the serenity
to accept the things I
cannot change;
courage to change the
things I can;
and wisdom to know the
difference.
Living
one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a
time;
Accepting hardships as
the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this
sinful world
as it is, not as I would
have it;
Trusting that He will
make all things right
if I surrender to His
Will;
That I may be reasonably
happy in this life
and supremely happy with
Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
~Reinhold Niebuhr~

"That
man is successful who
has lived well, laughed
often, and loved much,
who has gained the
respect of the
intelligent men and the
love of children; who
has filled his niche and
accomplished his task;
who leaves the world
better than he found it,
whether by an improved
poppy, a perfect poem,
or a rescued soul; who
never lacked
appreciation of earth's
beauty or failed to
express it; who looked
for the best in others
and gave the best he
had."
~Robert Louis Stevenson~

The
Dance
And
now, I'm glad I didn't
know,
The way It all would
end,
The way It all would go,
Our lives are better
left to chance,
I could have missed the
pain,
But I'da had to miss the
dance.
~Garth Brooks~

"If
you are going to walk on
thin ice, you might as
well dance."
~Unknown~
"Work
like you don't need the
money. Love like you've
never been hurt. Dance
like nobody is
watching."
~Mark Twain~
